Brownfields and Special Projects
The Brownfields and Special Projects team manages the City’s Brownfield Redevelopment Program and Industrial Commercial Land Bank.
The Brownfields and Special Projects team plays a key role in managing projects to achieve the City's land development goals. Land development is an integral component of the City's overall economic development strategy. Land must be readily available and affordable throughout the City to attract new businesses and to help existing businesses meet their expansion needs.
Special projects include Economic Development target areas such as the Health-Tech Corridor where the City has helped finance projects and acquired land to attract new businesses.
Brownfields and Special Projects Staff
Testimonial: CenterMark Development
Mark and Kelly Jablonski
CenterMark Development worked with the Department of Economic Development to acquire and redevelop a vacant, brownfield site owned by the City and formerly occupied by a grocery store. The staff was creative in structuring the sale which allowed for the project to proceed and ultimately resulted in a win-win-win for the developer, City, and the project's anchor tenants. The staff arranged for an efficient path through the City Council legislative and City Planning processes. The staff personally accompanied me to each of the committee meetings. The staff was well-prepared. Department and staff showed a depth of knowledge on brownfield matters and served as a liaison between CenterMark and the environmental consultant and provided technical expertise not only for our construction financing, but also for our permanent financing.
