Small businesses make up the fastest growing section of the US economy, creating more jobs each year than any other business segment. The City of Cleveland supports small businesses through a variety of assistance programs.
Retail businesses are the heart of city neighborhoods, providing goods and services as well as a place for the community to connect. The City supports retail businesses through loans and grants and by providing financing for additional neighborhood parking through targeted programs. Money spent within the City of Cleveland contributes to job retention and creation as well as providing tax funds for services and schools.

In late 2012, I began a more scientific analysis of downtown real estate with the assistance of a knowledgeable and professional agent. Many factors about downtown have improved significantly in the last five years. In addition, our company had added several new employees from both the east and west suburbs, making downtown more centrally located. Further, it is our hope to offer employment to the type of people who want the option of urban living and using public transportation.
I was totally impressed with the speed and efficiency with which my application for incentives was handled and processed. The Department of Economic Development ensured that I had the right information to make the application and kept me informed every step of the way through the entire process. This made the incentives not just a wish and a dream but actually integral to our decision-making process in choosing to move downtown. This was not what I have typically experienced when working with a bureaucracy. Bravo.
