United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfield Redevelopment Resources

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) administers an annual grant funding round to provide assistance with redevelopment of brownfields. Some of EPA’s funding can only be provided to governments. The City of Cleveland Department of Economic Development can work with you to make this funding work for your needs.

The EPA provides the following funding:

Assessment Grants
Assessment grants provide funding for a grant recipient to characterize the environmental risk present on a site and help to position it for remediation and redevelopment. USEPA can provide up to $200,000 in funding through the standard competitive grant process. Waivers are available for additional funding.

Cleanup Grants
Cleanup grants provide funding for a grant recipient to remediate project sites and move forward with redevelopment of a site. USEPA can provide up to $200,000 in funding through a competitive grant process.
