State of Ohio Brownfield Redevelopment Resources


The State of Ohio provides a comprehensive chart of Common Brownfield Funding Sources in OhioSeveral State funding sources are awarded only to local governments or similar authorities. The City of Cleveland can work with you as a co-applicant for funding.
 

 
Targeted Brownfield Assessment
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) provides targeted brownfield assessments to eligible sites. Under this program, contractors from OEPA will conduct a Phase I Assessment on development sites, the first step in the due diligence process.

Ohio Water Development Authority (OWDA) Brownfield Loan Program
The OWDA Brownfield Loan Program can provide a low-interest loan up to $500,000 for assessment projects or $5,000,000 for remediation.

Ohio Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund
The State of Ohio also administers a Revolving Loan Fund Program grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The State can provide low-interest funding for the remediation of eligible brownfield sites, including hazardous substances in soil or groundwater and asbestos abatement.

JobsOhio Revitalization Program
JobsOhio provides a wide range of financial assistance to growing companies looking to expand or relocate to the Cleveland area. Assistance comes in the form of loan and grant programs, tax credits and abatement, state financing, and state grants. The Revitalization Program is available for brownfield redevelopment projects and includes programs for Phase II Environmental Assessment, removal of asbestos, and remediation of environmental contamination.
