    Mayor Jackson Swears-In New Chief of Regional Development

    CLEVELAND – Today, Mayor Frank G. Jackson administered the Oath of Office to Edward W. Rybka, who will serve as the city’s new Chief of Regional Development. The position reports directly to the Mayor and is responsible for managing staff and providing leadership to several departments, including Economic Development, Community Development, City Planning and Building & Housing.

    As Chief of Regional Development, Rybka will work to advance Mayor Jackson’s vision for regional development issues, and advise the Mayor on the planning of projects related to downtown and neighborhood development, lakefront development and major housing and community development projects.

    Chief Rybka has been engaged in local government in Cleveland for nearly 30 years. Most recently he served as the city’s Director of the Department of Building and Housing and Interim Director of City Planning. Chief Rybka previously served as a member of Cleveland City Council, President of the Cuyahoga River Remedial Action Plan, Board of Trustees of the former St. Alexis Hospital, and former President of Lourexis, Inc.

    Chief Rybka is a graduate of John Carroll University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland class of 1993. He has been a member of several Polish and Czech cultural organizations and received the Polonia Foundation Award in 1997.
