Cleveland Convention Center
The Cleveland Convention Center is part of a recent $465 million project and is complete with 250,000 square feet of meetings rooms, exhibition halls, grand and junior ballroom, and a loading dock. Notable events have included the 2013 Senior Games, with more to come in late 2014 including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Annual Conference and the Ohio Association of Realtors Annual Conference. Cleveland was also recently announced as the finalist for the Republican National Convention of 2016.
While implemented with some of the latest audio-visual technology, the Convention Center is also a leader in sustainability. The Convention Center provides extensive windows for natural lighting, particularly the Lakeside Avenue entrance and Lake Erie overlook from the Grand Ballroom. The white reflective roof on the above-ground Global Center will reduce heat gain in the facility and lessen energy usage. The facility design includes significant water and lighting reduction plans, including the use of motion sensors, low-flow washroom fixtures, processing of lower water loads in sinks throughout the facility, and reduced wattage per square foot using facility-wide dimmers and light reduction systems that will save energy by controlling lighting usage. Also attached to the Cleveland Convention Center is the Global Center for Health Innovation, a state of the art showcase of the future of healthcare technology. The Cleveland Convention Center, Global Center, and downtown mall are all connected to the Hilton Convention Center Hotel. Overnight accommodations can also be made at many other downtown hotels within walking distance including The Westin, Hyatt Regency and Cleveland Marriott to name just a few.
